Backup Your Social Networks with digi.me

A huge number of us play our lives out on social networks. We post photos, share our thoughts and upload our information. Even though people may be aware of the need to back up the data on their computer’s hard drive, do they also consider the data that is online on their social networks?

Although some of these social networks do let you download a copy of your data to store as a backup, this isn’t an automatic process. It’s something that has to be triggered manually, which isn’t good at all for a secure backup process. This is where digi.me comes in.

Formerly known as SocialSafe, digi.me offers backup for all the major social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest. The service comes in the form of an application for Windows and Mac. Once downloaded, you simply authorise it to access your accounts and then let the program sync.

This sync process will depend on how many accounts you’ve added and how much information you have on there, but everything after this initial sweep will then be backed up incrementally. All of the data is stored on your system, rather than the cloud, meaning that it can be joined with your normal backup procedure for the ultimate protection.

You can view all your social network activity in a number of different ways, allowing the program to provide more use than just a backup tool. For example, you can use the calendar view to see your activity on specific days or you can use the journal view to create more of a story from your social networking.

You can also use digi.me as a basic analytics tool for your data, using the Insights tool to see how often you post on specific days and which of your activities have proven the most popular and how much feedback they’ve gained. You can also assess which friends you interact with the most.

It isn’t just personal users who need their social networks backed up, which is why digi.me also caters to the business market. Using the program will ensure that all of your data is backed up for compliance purposes, ensuring that your business activities are fully tacked. You can also download your social activity in a csv file in order to perform analysis on it.

If this is something that interests you then you can sign up for a free account. This allows you to archive up to 4 personal social network accounts, along with access to the journal, Photo Organiser and export tools. There is also a premium package that offers the ability to create PDFs for any time period, the ability to search all your data, and insights and statistics. This costs £4.99 per year. If you want to archive 10 accounts then that’ll cost £11.99/year, while 20 accounts will cost £19.99/year.
